A Tale of Two Lion Sightings

This past weekend brought another trip to Happy Valley for our RadioFam. Friday night included catching the 3-time defending National Champion Women's Volleyball team in action and an up-close and personal meeting of the Nittany Lion for Noah!

Noah walked from the concourse of Rec Hall into the seating area immediately up from where the Lion was standing on the sidelines. The Lion must've caught Noah in his sights, he immediately pointed directly at Noah (awesome!) and ran up the first set of bleachers towards us... ...and Noah (spooked a bit by a Lion charging at him ;o) immediately ran back towards Mommy & Daddy. He calmed down enough to approach the Lion, but refused to greet him. In Noah's words, "Noah NOT give Nittany Lion high-five!" Despite the refusal to give a high-five or fist pound to the Lion, the meeting definitely made a positive impression. He talked about it all the way to the car and told Grandmom/Grandpop/Uncle Mark/Aunt Cole all about it back at the house: "Noah saw Nittany Lion...like in book!" (referring to the 2 PSU children's books we read constantly), and "Noah NOT give Nittany Lion high-five!" [These statements were definitely repeated throughout the weekend. And Noah made it clear that next time he will give the Nittany Lion a high-five.]

As luck would have it on Sunday, we walked right by a sign downtown saying that the Nittany Lion (and the Drum Major & Blue Sapphire) would be signing autographs in about 20 minutes. We told Noah who he would soon meet again, and he said, "Noah yes give Nittany Lion high-five!"
